In the episode, a flashback discloses that fan-favorite personality Alastor the Radio Demon was a serial killer in his human life. Knowing full well he was headed to the underworld, he made contact with the realm beyond beforehand to secure a strong position in Hell. The charismatic leader, the charismatic leader the cannibal faction in Hell, promised Alastor he would become “the strongest Condemned Soul in Hell” in return for his soul.

This prompts the question: How is Rosie powerful enough to elevate Alastor over every other Demonic Sinners?

“The Rosie and Alastor deal is the first stepping stone in a larger narrative that encompasses so much, leading into season 3,” the showrunner states. “Clearly that is a perfect question: How is she that powerful? The solution could be various factors, but the revelation is in season three. I'm very excited for fans to witness it.”

It is uncertain how long viewers will have to wait for Hazbin Hotel’s next season. The production companies have approved the third and fourth seasons, but the creator often notes that animation is a slow, lengthy process, and subsequent seasons are undated. Nevertheless, she states holding off on those details is an important part of keeping the second season's attention in the right places.

Mysteries Resolved in The Next Season

The creator promises that the upcoming season will address the questions followers have been posing, like why the cannibal leader commanded Alastor to vanish for seven years, which weakened his influence in Hell.

“The entire seven-year span, and the pacts these humans are making, and everything — it contributes to a larger story,” she says.

Meanwhile, the Rosie/Alastor backstory episode provides another glimpse into how the core cast of Sinner Demons appeared as as mortals, following after seeing another character's Victorian-era human form in the second episode. She explains that significant consideration was put into these character designs.

“The human versions of the characters hold so much weight,” she notes. “They range from appearing really different from their infernal version to seeming very similar. With Pentious, the first one we see, there was some internal discussion internally between choosing something that represents the personality, versus going with an option that's historically correct. We leaned toward creating a design that just felt like it was him.”

She mentions the biggest debate over the mortal look of Pentious was his lengthy locks: “We were like, ‘Nobody typically had extended hair of that style in Victorian-era London.’ But at the same time, we believe the outline is extremely crucial, and we also just thought he looked good. We were like, ‘This seems correct.’ We kind of gave the excuse that he lived in seclusion, so he just let his hair grow out. So there's always a way. As we create the human versions of these personas […] it's such a fun thing to investigate and figure out. I'm excited for fans to view additional of what the human forms look like.”
