New England matched their longest winning run since the Brady period as they defeated AFC East opponents the Jets 27-14 in the NFL
Rookie TreVeyon Henderson was the standout with three touchdowns as the Patriots secured an eighth consecutive victory for the initial occasion since star signal-caller Brady's final season with the franchise in 2019
QB Drake Maye accumulated 281 passing yards and a TD, connecting on 25 of 34 passes
The win extends the New England's lead at the summit of the division as they moved to a 9-2 record, with the Jets at the foot after falling to a 2-8 mark
The opposing team had taken the lead at their home field with QB Fields rushing for a five-yard touchdown to cap the Jets' opening drive
But the New England responded in the second quarter as the rookie ran in two short rushing scores before the ball carrier caught a pass from Drake Maye at the back of the endzone midway through the third quarter to extend the lead to 21 to 7
"It was a key occasion for him rising to the challenge, and it's been fantastic for him to keep gaining experience," the quarterback said of Henderson. "He aims to be great."
Justin Fields threw to Metchie in the latter part of the third period to narrow the deficit for the Jets but Andy Borregales converted a two field goals in the final period as the home side sealed the victory
